It’s a wide-ranging conversation that looks at the just-released Live as well as the future, which is looking better today for the franchise than at any point in the past four years. The second part of the show brings all the regular Press Row panelists together to look more into a concerning trend in modern sports games – the phasing out of online leagues in favor of other modes. The 103rd episode of the Press Row Podcast is a direct result of community feedback! We’ve heard from hundreds of listeners that really enjoy a lot of aspects of FIFA 15 but don’t always understand the best ways to improve their game or enjoy it as much as they can. So, we reached out to a few of our friends to provide some background as well as direct instructions on how to get better – and we think the result is a really interesting show. Up first, host Rich Grisham chats with FIFA 15 producer Santiago Jaramillo, who discusses (among many other things) some of the differences between this year and last year and how players can approach it this season. Up next is a discussion between Rich and 2 FIFA experts - regular Press Row panelist Kat Bailey and GoodGameBro’s Corey Andress – who totally geek out on very specific ways to get better at every aspect of FIFA 15, including scoring, defense, tactics, substitutions, and roster management. Whether you’re a longtime FIFA player, a newcomer to the series, or just someone with a passing interest in the game, there’s something for you in our show today. Enjoy! It’s unheard of! Developing, publishing, and supporting an independent sports games on next-generation console platforms? In 2014? The sports game landscape may have gotten smaller in the past few years, but the team at HB Studios saw an opportunity where others saw risk. The result is “The Golf Club”, a simulation golf experience that will soon hit the PS4 and the Xbox One (and is already available on Steam Early Access). The 94th edition of the Press Row Podcast features an extended 1-on-1 discussion between host Richard Grisham (@richgrisham) and The Golf Club Executive Producer Peter Garcin (@rawktron); the two discuss a host of issues, including key game design decisions, how the team navigated and processed the Early Access feedback, going through the console submission process, and the freedom and anxiety that comes from attempting to self-publish a sports game in today’s complex landscape. It’s an open, honest conversation that provides a unique look at how The Golf Club is coming together in its stretch run.

In the 80th episode of the Press Row Podcast, we feature our Press Row Podcast PAX East 2014 panel in its entirety. Titled “The Crisis in Sports Games”, the group takes a look at the state of sports games from the Consumer, Developer, and Publisher standpoint. Do game purchasers have enough choices? Do they get enough value from their games? Where are the arcade titles? Is too much asked of developers in too short of a time frame? Can publishers make enough money with expensive license and development costs? These questions and many more are posed and debated in front of a live audience.
A special thanks to the great people at PAX East 2014 for accepting our panel! We had a great time and hope to be back next year for the third straight PAX!

The 74th episode of the Press Row Podcast is an in-depth and at times fascinating look into the state of the NBA Live franchise as it stands today. There aren’t a lot of people who would have this kind of conversation, so we thank Sean for his participation. No one but Operation Sports and the Press Row Podcast will deliver a show like this. Enjoy!

Happy New Year! Episode 65 of the Press Row Podcast is the audio version of a recent Press Row Hangout that focuses on nothing but listener-driven topics as we celebrate the holidays. While we always try to work in listener question segments, too often there’s so much going on that we don’t get to them. Not this time! Host Rich Grisham (@richgrisham) is joined by PastaPadre’s Bryan Wiedey (@pastapadre) – unfortunately, Operation Sports’ Chris Sanner was supposed to join us but technical difficulties prevented that – as they discuss a wide range of topics, including Madden, NBA 2K14, NBA Live, MLB The Show, and much more. It’s Episode 64 of the Press Row Podcast, the second annual celebration of everything we love about sports video games with friends of the show! For the second straight year, we’ve gathered a who’s who of industry folks, media types, pundits, and fans all to tell us about their top three sports games of the year. Everyone has plenty of great reasons why they chose their particular three favorite titles, which reminds us all that these games strike very different chords with different types of players. It’s an epic three and a half hour show, built for those long hours of holiday travel (or to tune out those relatives you’re forced to spend time with). No matter how you listen to the show, enjoy!

Lastly, each panelist reviews their personal list so you can see how the actual selections came together. The crew describes getting their PS4 units, how the setup went well or horribly wrong, and initial thoughts on all of the sports games that came out with the system. It’s the 30th Episode of the Press Row Podcast, featuring two distinct conversations that our community has been asking for. First up is a lengthy conversation about the state of sports video game writing in 2013; many listeners have posed questions about why it seems that so few outlets pay attention to sports gaming even though it remains one of – if not the most – important revenue sources in the industry. After that, we do a “Review Roundtable Blitz” on NCAA 14, as three of the guys on the show are knee-deep in playing it for review. Don’t worry, though, we’ll have an even longer full episode-length review roundtable on NCAA 14 in a couple of weeks. Joining us this week: Samit Sarkar, Polygon (@samitsarkar) Mike Suszek, Joystiq (@mikesuszek) Bryan Wiedey, PastaPadre (@pastapadre) Owen Good, Kotaku (@owengood) And your host, Richard Grisham, GamesRadar (@richgrisham) Send us your feedback! We love to hear from you and can’t wait to read your stuff on the air in a future episode. Do it one of these ways: 1) Follow the show on Twitter at @PressRowPodcast and send us some Tweets while you’re there 2) Email the show at PressRowPodcast@gmail.com 3) Respond to this post Also, the Press Row Podcast is now available on iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/operation-sports-press-row/id563624090) and Stitcher Radio (http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/operation-sports/press-row-podcast) , so subscribe to it and rate it too!
